goodbye green eyes

As I sat down in the old recliner.

Lost in a hazing somewhere-place,

You spoke to me.

Your green eyes ever turbulent with distress,

Your smile faded,

Your t-shirt torn.

You talked to me,

and asked me to forgive you,

for leaving without ever saying goodbye.

And I pictured you,

In the darkness,

a hesitant blob of self-fullfilling prophecy.

And I forgave you,

but I can’t tell you that-

Because you’re gone.
